Why I Created energizeHER: A Journey from Silence to Alignment

During a recent interview, I was asked a simple question:

Why did you create energizeHER?

My answer wasn’t something I rehearsed.
It came from lived experience.

I created energizeHER for women who were, and still are, just like me.

For years, I lived in the role so many women know well, the one who steps up, holds it together, and makes sure everything and everyone is taken care of. At work. At home. In life. I became the leader. The reliable one. The woman who always said, “I got it,” even when I didn’t.

That kind of existence looks strong from the outside.
But on the inside, it was heavy.

I was performing. Delivering. Meeting expectations.
And slowly, I was neglecting myself.

Society places unfair expectations on women, especially Black women, to always be capable, resilient, productive, mute, on time, a mind reader, and more. We are celebrated for carrying weight that was never meant to be ours. Over time, that pressure took a toll on my mental and emotional wellness. Yet, I kept moving forward because the work had to be done.

Until it didn’t.

There came a moment when my voice became “too much.” When my truth became inconvenient. When the systems I was navigating did what they often do: they tried to silence me.

But that wasn’t the end of my story!

You see, the more they attempted to quiet my voice, the clearer it became; not out of anger, but for survival.

I am a Black woman; a human being with emotions, limits, and a right to protect my mental wellness. So, choosing myself was not rebellion; it was obedience.

I realized that honoring my voice and my well-being mattered more than continuing to perform in spaces that required my erasure. I knew I had a story worth telling, expertise worth sharing, and a responsibility to women who needed permission to stop shrinking.

That realization changed everything.

I committed to learning, not just professionally, but spiritually. I deepened my relationship with God to ensure that the work I was doing aligned with His will for my life, not just my ambition. That alignment required me to get out of my own way, release fear, and walk fully into what I was called to do.

Along the way, I became a trusted voice in branding, media, and marketing. But more importantly, I became clear about my purpose: to help women reclaim their voices, build platforms rooted in truth, and create legacies through knowledge-sharing and community.

That clarity became energizeHER.

energizeHER exists because women deserve to live whole lives; not just perform well.

It exists to create safe, affirming spaces where women can breathe, be seen, and build without carrying the weight of unrealistic expectations. It exists to help women stop surviving in silence and start living in alignment with who God created them to be.

This is not about hustle culture or perfection; it’s about clarity, wholeness, and the courage to be you.

energizeHER is for the woman who knows there is more to her life than exhaustion and obligation. It’s for the woman who feels called to something deeper but needs community, strategy, and support to walk it out.

My journey from silence to alignment is the foundation of this work.
And now, I help other women take that same journey with intention, faith, and bold confidence.

energizeHER exists for women who know they are called for more: more clarity, peace, and bold impact, but don’t want to build alone.
