"Whatever Your Journee Looks Like...Embrace It": A Conversation with Felicia LaShawn Morrow

You've been pretending you're fine for so long that you've almost convinced yourself it's true. But somewhere deep inside, you know the truth: you're running on empty, performing strength you don't feel, and wondering if anyone would still love you if they saw the real you.

If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you.

On the latest episode of the energizeHER Podcast, I sat down with Felicia LaShawn Morrow, author of "Embracing The Journee," and we had one of the most honest, vulnerable conversations I've had in a long time. Felicia didn't hold back. She shared about infertility, divorce, unrequited love, identity loss, and the slow, sacred work of finding herself on the other side of it all.

But here's what moved me most: Felicia didn't just talk about surviving her pain. She talked about embracing it. And that shift in perspective is exactly what so many of us need to hear.

Who Is Felicia LaShawn Morrow?

Felicia is a native of Natchitoches, Louisiana, now based in Houston, Texas. With over twenty-five years in education as a classroom teacher, school counselor, and life coach, she has dedicated her life to empowering others mentally, socially, and emotionally. She's also a recording artist and gospel music minister who has traveled coast to coast sharing her gift.

But her most recent calling is the one that brought her to energizeHER: Author.

"Embracing The Journee" is Felicia's debut memoir, and it is raw, honest, and faith-filled. It's the story of a woman who walked through loss upon loss upon loss and discovered that nothing was wasted. It's the story of a Black woman who performed strength for everyone else while quietly falling apart on the inside. It's the story of a woman who had to get honest before she could get free.

And if you're a Black woman navigating mental wellness, faith, loss, or identity, her story is your story.

Why This Episode Matters Right Now

We're in a season where so many women are burning out. We're exhausted from people-pleasing. We're grieving losses we haven't even named. We're wondering if we're too broken, too far behind, or too much for anyone to love.

And we're doing it all alone.

The energizeHER Podcast exists to interrupt that isolation. To remind Black women that they don't have to carry everything by themselves. To normalize the conversation around mental wellness, boundaries, faith, and identity. And this episode with Felicia does exactly that.

Felicia's message is simple but revolutionary: Your story has purpose. Your pain is not wasted. And whatever your journey looks like, you don't need permission to embrace it.

The Three Takeaways That Will Change Your Perspective

Takeaway 1: Your Story Has Purpose

Every season you have walked through: the painful ones, the confusing ones, the ones that almost broke you was not wasted.

This is the truth Felicia discovered: God uses every chapter of your life to prepare you for the next one. Your infertility story is not just about loss. Your divorce is not just about failure. Your heartbreak is not just about pain. Every valley, every setback, every closed door is part of a larger narrative that God is writing in your life.

When you're in the middle of suffering, this can be hard to believe. You don't feel like you're being prepared. You feel like you're being punished. But Felicia's testimony shows us that the question is not "Why did this happen to me?" but rather "What is God preparing me for through this?"

Your story has purpose. Even the chapters you wish you could rewrite.

Takeaway 2: Healing Requires Honesty

You cannot heal what you will not face.

True healing begins when you are willing to be honest about your pain, your mistakes, and your needs. This is where so many of us get stuck. We keep performing strength. We keep pretending we're fine. We keep carrying the weight alone because admitting we're struggling feels like failure.

But Felicia's journey shows us something different. The moment she got honest with herself, with God, with a therapist, with a trusted friend, that's when healing became possible.

And here's what Felicia wants you to know: Seeking help is not weakness. It is the bravest thing you can do.

For Black women especially, there's often shame around therapy, coaching, or counseling. We're supposed to be strong. We're supposed to handle it. But Felicia breaks that narrative wide open. She got professional support. She got honest. And she healed.

Your honesty is the bridge between suffering and freedom.

Takeaway 3: Embrace Where You Are

Stop waiting until everything is perfect to start living fully.

You are not behind. You are not too broken. You are not too old. You are exactly where God needs you to be for the journey ahead.

This takeaway will set you free if you let it.

We spend so much time waiting. Waiting for the right relationship. Waiting to lose the weight. Waiting until we have it all figured out. Waiting until we're "ready." But Felicia's message is clear: Your journey doesn't start when you arrive. It starts now. In the middle of the messy. In the middle of the uncertain. In the middle of the rebuilding.

Whatever your journey looks like right now, embrace it. Not because it's perfect. But because it's yours.

The Quote That Changed Everything

"Whatever your journey looks like... embrace it."

Felicia said this, and it hit me hard. Because we spend so much energy fighting our reality. We fight against where we are. We fight against who we've become. We fight against the journey we're on because we think it should look different.

But what if the journey you're on is exactly the one you need?

Embracing your journey doesn't mean you're happy about the pain. It doesn't mean you're giving up on changing things. It means you're stopped resisting reality and started learning from it. It means you're honoring the process. It means you're willing to see what God is building in you through it all.

That's when freedom comes. That's when transformation happens.
